Projects

One of the biggest projects I was tasked with leading, was the introduction of Windows Server 2003 to all island primary and middle schools; This was brought about by the increased end-user devices being used in schools as they expanded their administrative staff.

The project was to include a standardised installation and documentation of instructions for the setup of:

  • A network subnet and IP range.
  • A Domain.
  • Active Directory including the creation of users and profiles.
  • DHCP.
  • DNS.
  • Attaching of end-user devices to the domain.
  • Transferring existing profiles.
  • Move SIMS from a standalone computer to the newly installed server.
  • Configuring end-user devices to use SIMS from the new server.

With my skills in programming, I was also tasked by the Head of the Education Department (at the time), with developing and implementing a Capital Ordering System, that would allow it’s users to generate and edit orders, then authorise and commit, to print on to pre-printed forms, then track delivery and payments; whilst maintaining an audit log of users actions and to detect discrepancies in values to prevent misuse against budgetary targets.
